What is Markdown?
Markdown is a lightweight markup language that uses simple symbols for formatting: `#` for headings, `**` for bold, `-` for lists and backticks for inline code or code blocks. Markdown files are easy to read and write, and it is the de facto standard for GitHub, blogs and technical documentation. This previewer supports a practical syntax subset: H1-H6 headings, bold and italic, inline code, fenced code blocks, ordered and unordered lists, links, blockquotes, horizontal rules and tables, covering most everyday writing and document formatting needs.

- Headings: `# Heading 1` through `###### Heading 6`
- Bold/Italic: `**bold**`, `*italic*`
- Inline code: `` `code` ``; Code block: ``` ```language ```
- Lists: `- unordered` or `1. ordered`

Common Use Cases
Markdown is widely used for README files, blog posts, knowledge bases, code documentation, forum posts and chat messages. With this previewer you can quickly check how your writing will look before publishing, verify that tables and code blocks render correctly, and estimate the length of your document before you commit it to a repository or a publishing system.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you support task lists and images? Not yet. Task lists and image syntax are not implemented in the current subset; all other common syntax is covered.
Is the rendered output safe? Yes. All content is HTML-escaped before rendering; script tags and dangerous link protocols are filtered out, so no code is executed.
Is my content saved or uploaded? No. Editing and previewing happen entirely in your browser; refreshing the page clears the content.
